Your image… To love it, or not to love it?
My image, the way I look. Should I hate it or love it? Hide it or parade it? Change it or keep it?
I know what I would be doing. I know what I am already doing. Question is, what from the above are YOU doing?
As I sit here on my couch, in my lingerie (yes, I am seriously in my lingerie) and write, I can’t help but wonder about all the women in the world who wouldn’t be doing something like this, and I don’t mean the writing part.
9 in 10 of Australian Women (that’s 89%) postpone important plans, reschedule job interviews and even cancel dates… What if this person was meant to be THE ONE?! All because they are self conscious on how they look (studies made in 2016 by Dove for The Dove Global Beauty and Confidence Report).
What’s even more upsetting, 8 in 10 young girls feel self conscious about themselves… Who are they looking up to?? Who are they watching? Who is their main influence?
So why do you think women feel more and more self conscious everyday? Maybe because of how they think the world perceives them. Or perhaps of the way they perceive the people in the world.
Think about how significant media is now days. Think about who it is we see appear on it. Think about who appears on television, in movies, on advertisements… Models, actors, actresses… Pretty people.

Me face swapping with Barbie… I love my face more!
There is so much pressure in society to look like this however, we have a choice whether to accept that pressure or not.
Accepting the pressure means you become self conscious about what you look like currently which leads to feeling horrible about yourself which then leads to either hiding away or changing your physical appearance, which is fine but it’s usually not done for ourselves but rather society.
Fads like the waist trainer and lip plumper’s have become huge because it’s what celebrities are using. “Well if a celebrity is using it, it must be good… Right?”
No, no, no, no, no! What ever happened to self love? What we don’t realise is how we love ourselves is exactly how we love someone else and how we expect to be loved. So think about how you love and treat yourself. Now think of the familiarities between that and how you love others. Or think about who you have pushed away because you thought they were too good for you.
Work on yourself and your mindset. Detach yourself from your negative past and any oncoming negativity. Learn to LOVE yourself to the ultimate fullest and you will find you will walk out of the front door with no make up on one day. You will feel comfortable with going on that date. You will only do things physically (exercise, wear make up etc) for YOURSELF and YOUR OWN health.
